Thank you, Dr Sophia.

The final paragraph in the post now gives a link to download the paper I've since written. I'd be interested if you think it might help people move away from policing and towards recognising monitoring and evaluation as integral to improving practice and improving services.

With best wishes,

John

Not all practioners are inclined towards M and E [Monitoring and Evaluation] with the right approach, especially with learning attitude rather consider it as policing task. Looking forward for your paper on how M and E facilitates self-assessment and learning process of organisation.

Thank you
Sincerely
Sophia

nice - I like the spirit of curiosity and openness which the poem encapsulates. A very Gestalt approach to life.

To take the analogy further, what is it that lovers do (or don't do) which help their relationship? How could those things be translated to the organisational plain?

Some quick thoughts from me: whisper sweet nothings, hold hands, gaze at each other, hold the Other in unconditional regard, feel excited, feel validated, feel loved, respond with heart + body + mind + soul....

It's a long way from the standard 'heady' target-driven approach to consortium building.

very interesting. I suppose we've long been used to mapping out interpersonal systems using 'constellations' - so why not apply that methodology to consortia?

cool - very creative x

I completely agree with the five unspoken rules applying to the workplace and more importantly leaders and managers realizing the impact of not being aware of them. People still have a social need for groups particularly to form a relationship with thier work colleagues. When needs are not met and the emotional intellegience of an organisation is sadly lacking we inevitably 'reap what we sow', and end up with demotivated staff and a rise in compliants, bullying and sickness.

This is avoidable and after all hearing these five unspoken rules even if not spoken can change this.

Having observed Bryce working in this way in a number of different contexts it seems that a key skill is the art of asking powerful questions and working within a group size that optimises the contribution of all participants.
